“Any WiFi here?” It’s a request etched into our daily lives and something we at Cork Innovates call The WiFi Eye. Not to fear because Cork City has got your back. We are the small city with a big impact and when it comes to WiFi Cork is very considerate.
With the Global Startup Gathering coming to Cork this November, we are giving everybody a heads-up on where the best WiFi locations are. A large number of public streets around the city offer free WiFi including; Paul Street, French Church Street, Careys Lane, St. Patrick Street, Grand Parade and many more.
Of course, not everybody likes to wander around in search of WiFi so here are 5 of the City Centre’s cosiest cafes to relax in while you roam.
Customers can drink coffee, read or enjoy some of the amazing home-made bakes. The Bookshelf offers all the pleasantries of a modern-day cafe while feeling like you’ve never left the house. Situated just off Cork’s business district, the South Mall, this cafe proves very popular for that midday break.
Enthusiasts argue this place has the best WiFi in the city. Three Fools Coffee was set up by friends Sean, Gary and Kevin and situated in the heart of Cork’s grand parade. It’s unique set up provides for a lovely outdoor experience, and of course indoor seating for those winter months. Three Fools Coffee pride themselves on great coffee, phenomenal customer service and “The Smile. Not ours, yours.”
Dukes is a Cork gem found right in the heart of the city centre. This is a coffee shop with a whole lot more, priding themselves on friendly staff, first class coffee and a food menu that is a step up from the rest. Dukes is also located in Cork’s business hub ‘City Gate’, home to ourselves at Cork Innovates. Word on the street is they host an amazing BBQ every Friday!
Gulpd is situated adjacent the Triskel Arts Centre, gaining a great reputation for its quality and valuable lunch offer. On a nice day, you can sit out the back of Cork’s historical location overlooking Bishops Lucey Park. This is also a late night cafe providing evening and weekend entertainment for “The Gulpd Sessions.”
Filter Cafe espresso bar ranks high in all categories and some call it the best coffee in Cork. Situated on George’s Quay, the cafe overlooks the river and prides itself on its unique coffee experience. In fact you can see what I mean in this video.
So, for all you entrepreneurs visiting Cork this November, make sure to sample some of these local successes; and of course enjoy the free WiFi!
